Klangholz (Tonewood) is a 15 minute-long ficitional short film written and directed by Shahram Shahangi. Co-author was Ruben Voisard, who is also credited as DoP.
The movie is about an old carpenter (played by Wolfram Kunkel), who has a small workshop in a Bavarian village. With his advanced age, it is more and more difficult for him to maintain the shop, especially because he's suffering from Parkinson's. He gets a help assigned from a job centre, where he requested support. So, one day an older gentleman from Iran (played by Hossein Mansouri) appears on his doorstep. Them not understanding each other doesn't make it easier for the Bavarian carpenter to accept his new aid. The combination of bitterness about his work and the prejudices and racism towards the immigrant leads to a lot of tension between the two equally stubborn men. Will they be able to set their cultural differences aside and work successfully alongside each other?

Movie in German (Bavarian dialect) with Persian elements. English and Persian subtitles available.
Shot in August 2020 in Upper Bavaria/Greater Munich area.
